In 2007, the D.C. Council passed the Public Education Reform Amendment Act (PERAA), which reconfigured D.C. Public Schools under control of the Mayor. As part of that law, the reforms were supposed to be evaluated each year, as well as after five years. On June 3, 2015, that report was published by the National Academies. On June 3, 2015 and June 22, 2015 the Committee on Education held a two-part public roundtable on the "Summative of Evaluation of the Public Education System in the District of Columbia," as required by PERAA. This report is a summary of those gatherings, prepared under the direction of Committee Chairperson Grosso.
